Project
Refurbishment of the Margaret Mason Centre in Scunthorpe.
Objective
To create a twin purpose and innovative environment suitable for the students to eat and socialise in while having the ability to use the computers to do research for their course work as well as check for their emails and access the internet.
Our Aim
Was to provide tables and seating which are strong and cost effective as well as an aesthetic complement to the existing colour scheme of the Centre. Also working closely with the College we needed to design an area within the Centre which would replace the existing fitted work surfaces and create unique stations which the Students could enjoy using and which would reflect the forward thinking of the College itself.

The Solution
The tables and chairs were chosen from some of our existing manufacturing partners and this decision was made on the grounds of their reliability of product and that of the ability to work to delivery deadlines. Regarding the student workstations, after a number of conversations with Clive and Martin at the College we enlisted the assistance of Craig our in-house C.A.D. Operator and together we designed a freestanding twin sided workstation which was D.D.A. compliant and which we felt went some way to offering the College the result they were looking for. After preparing 2D and 3D colour visuals of the proposed units we had another meeting with the College to finalise the specification. The designs were warmly welcomed and after some minor amendments the drawings were sent off to one of our fabricators to price. The result is as photographed below and as we understand it the Centre and the workstations are being regularly used.

"We approached Harlequin to help us design and provide a number of internet workstations to allow the students to quickly walk up and access the internet or their college email. The solution had to be hard wearing and secure because of the environment into which they would be installed. We are very happy with the solution as it more than fulfils our brief and certainly looks the part in the college cybercafé."
We have been very pleased with the quality of equipment purchased and after the sales care we have received from Harlequin over the years and the college has an excellent relationship with the company
